About the Company
Our client, a data science consulting firm specializing in AI/ML, predictive intelligence, and technical consulting, is seeking an early-career Applied Data & BI Analyst to support the design and development of scalable data solutions across enterprise and operational systems.
Role Overview
This role focuses on structuring, integrating, analyzing, and visualizing data from critical infrastructure environments, including enterprise platforms and non-enterprise operational systems. The successful candidate will assist in transforming fragmented, unstructured, and semi-structured datasets into normalized, decision-ready frameworks that support analytics, reporting, automation, and business intelligence initiatives.
Working alongside senior technical leadership, this individual will contribute to building structured data pipelines, supporting system integrations, and developing dashboards and insight tools that enable reliable, traceable data foundations and actionable decision support. This role is designed for a high-potential, technically curious individual eager to develop deep expertise in applied data systems and business intelligence within complex industrial environments, with a particular focus on Oil & Gas / Energy clients and operational data environments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, integrate, and structure data for analytics, reporting, and machine learning readiness, including building lightweight pipelines using Python and SQL
Ensure data quality, normalization, and governance across structured, semi-structured, and time-series datasets
Perform exploratory and operational data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities, and generate automated insight summaries
Work with Oil & Gas operational datasets, supporting the analysis and visualization of production, field, asset, equipment, and other operational performance data
Translate analytical outputs into decision-ready datasets and actionable insights
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance metrics using Power BI or Microsoft Fabric
Design clear visualizations and apply data storytelling to communicate operational performance to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Support development of reusable analytics frameworks, AI accelerators, and automation initiatives, including experimentation with Copilot integrations
Document data models, workflows, dashboards, and prototypes to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline (equivalent practical experience considered)
1–2 years of industry experience (internship, co-op, or full-time)
Oil & Gas / Energy industry experience, with exposure to operational or production-related data and an understanding of how data is used to support field, engineering, or operational decision-making
Strong Python skills and solid database fundamentals (SQL, Snowflake, and/or Databricks)
Experience preparing, cleaning, structuring, and integrating data for analysis and reporting
Experience with Power BI (or similar tools) for visualization and dashboard development
Exposure to machine learning concepts and comfort working with APIs and structured data systems
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data storytelling/communication skills
Comfort working with industrial and operational data environments, particularly within Oil & Gas / Energy
Bonus (Not Required)
Exposure to time-series or sensor data
Experience with Copilot or LLM integrations
Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform
Experience building dashboards for operational decision support
